The International Handball Federation and Organising committee have announced the match schedule for the IHF Super Globe, set for Doha from 7-12 September.
Eight club teams arriving from five continents will fight for one trophy in Doha: that is the basic principle of the IHF Super Globe which for the fifth consecutive occasion will be contested in Qatar.
The opener of the 2014 edition will see the Oceania champions Sydney University (Australia) taking on Esperance Sportive de Tunis (Tunisia), the African champions, on 7 September at 1 pm local time. The remaining games of Match Day 1 and the official opening ceremony will follow, prior to the first top match with defending IHF Super Globe champion FC Barcelona (Spain) facing host Al-Sadd (Qatar).
The group matches will continue on 8 and 9 September. After a rest day the two best ranked teams from groups A and B will face off in the semi-finals on 11 September at 5:30 and 8 pm local time. Before those matches, the placement round for ranking positions 5 to 8 will begin.
The final will take place on Friday, 12 September at 8 pm.
All matches will take place in the Qatar Handball Association Complex for the first time. The IHF Super Globe is the first test event for the 2015 Men’s Handball World Championship, and the QHA complex is one of the four newly created venues.
